Booking at Fat Rock Studios

Booking time at Fat Rock Studios is very easy, we have recently stream lined our business. We provide a free initial consultation. Which allows us to meet and greet prospective clients and to discuss any and all project details in-depth. This gives us a chance to talk more about the spefic project and a makes it much easier to give you an accurate quote. There is a few things that you need to know about recording before we go any further, like what to expect, what you need to know about recording, and the most important the rates. We have completely upgraded the studio to accommodate the most cutting edge recording technology. Even though we specialize in recording bands/artist we now can do sound for picture, folly work, voice over’s, commercials, and media transfers (tapes, vhs, vinyl, to CD/DVD..ect.).

We will get the rates out of the way first because we expect that is what you want to know the most.

Tracking session (recording): $15.00 an hour (2 hour minimum)

Mixing session: $10.00 an hour (2 hour minimum)

To get a quote for commercial, voice over, or media transfer please contact us for a personalized quote.

Here is just a few recommendations from us here at Fat Rock Inc to help ensure that you end up with the best recording possible. These are not rules, nor will we make this a requirement to record with us. Just a friendly heads up to make sure that you sound your best. We will break it down for the most common instruments.

Drummers: Drums are often looked over but is the foundation of almost all music out there. To get the best recorded sound out of any drum kit you need to replace any worn heads with a focus on the snare and kick drum. Also you need to make sure that your drum heads are tuned (top and bottom heads). If you don’t know how to do this click here for some tips. If you still don’t feel comfortable with tuning your drums, we can tune them for you, or if you would like, feel free to rent our studio kit for your recording. (Tama RockStar Custom Fusion kit, Zildgen and Sabian cymbals, and a DW7000 double bass pedal). We keep our kit in top shape.

Guitarists/Bassist: Hard to imagine any music without the guitar or bass elements. We always recommend that you replace your strings just for any recording session. Along with a set of new strings we recommend that you have you guitar set up for your string and tuning combination. If your guitar/bass has active pickups make sure it has a fresh battery when you come in. We do not do guitar set ups. You can take you guitar to any trusted professional for this set up and intonation corrections. Feel free to contact us for a recommendation. We also have guitar and bass amps available to rent for sessions. (Crate Custom Blue Voodoo 150W Tube Head, Crate Custom 4x12 Cab with Celestion Vintage 40's, Ampeg SVT-350 head, Ampeg Classic 8x10 cab, and Crate GFX 212)

Vocalist: We encourage that you practice your vocal parts as much as possible before you come in to record. With that being said we also recommend that you do not over practice, take a day off before coming in to record to let you vocal chords heal. This is why we encourage not booking a recording session with us the day after a practice or a show.

Again these are not rules noir will we make this a requirement to record with us. We understand that time/money constraints may not allow for all of these tips. We are just giving you a heads up or a reminder for things you may have forgot or didn’t think about.

Before a time can be booked with us, we will go over the Booking Poilcy feel free to check it out here.

If there was something that we forgot or left out feel free to contact us.

Thanks for checking us out and we look forward to working with you.
